We have been keeping busy indoors this winter!
CDC dogs finished off the 2022 show season with the Battle River Canine Association show in October. Shayla and Macey earned more points towards their conformation championship and are now on the dreaded 9 points. Vucko and I finished our CDX Obedience title and even got to do our very first run-off because we had a tie with another team.
The girls took the pups to the Fort Saskatchewan & Area Canine Association CKC agility trial. Shayla and Macey as well as Azra and Vucko earned 2 Q’s each in Jumps and Tunnels. It was a really great day of fun agility and we are looking forward to entering their spring trial.
November was the start of our indoor herding lessons. The Suffolk lambs are proving to be a good challenge for the dogs, but it is a great opportunity for them to practice holding pressure and moving tough sheep. The Sturgeon Agriplex is a great facility and it is working out really well for our lessons.
Along with herding, we offered some Agility and Rally-Obedience lessons as well. There are some great dogs coming out to play and I can’t wait to see some of them hit the trial ring in the New Year.
We are just starting our winter holiday break and looking forward to getting back at it in January. We will once again offer Monday night Beginner and Advanced Rally-O, Thursday night Advanced and Masters Agility and Friday and Sunday Sheep Herding lessons.
The New Year is also bringing us a Sheep Herding Clinic with Kier Scott from Herding East Stockdogs. Kier was the Reserve Champion at the 2022 Calgary Stampede World Stock Dog Championships. We are looking forward to having him back to see all of the progress we have made since the last clinic. This will be our puppy Slick’s first clinic! He is a really nice pup and I can’t wait to see how he does in a clinic setting.
I hope you all stay warm for the winter and enjoy a Happy and Healthy Holiday Season
