Happy New Year Everyone!
We are just winding down to the end of our winter herding season at the Sturgeon Agriplex in Cardiff. It has been a really great winter working sheep but we are super excited to get our 2024 lambing season under way. Our plan is to be finished lambing and bottle baby duty and get back to herding lessons in May outside at the farm. Dates and Times will be posted later on.
While we impatiently wait for the little hooves to start hitting the ground, I thought I would give you an update on our approved CDC summer events.
We have 5 herding trials as well as 2 agility trials planned for this summer. We are going to try a new approach to the herding trials this year and see how evening trials work out. There are so many weekend dog sports events in our area that the hope is to accommodate more people this way. June 24 we are kicking things off with 1 Stockdog Sheep run, July 15 will be 1 Arena Sheep and 1 Arena Duck, August 12 will be 1 Stockdog Sheep and August 26 will be 1 Arena Sheep and 1 Arena Duck. We have also applied for a weekend fall trial with an out of town judge offering 2 Stockdog Sheep and 4 Arena Duck runs. More details will be posted once it is CKC Approved. Premium lists will be available on www.canuckdogs.com.
Our Agility Friends are not left out of the mix, July 6-7 CKC Agility offering 4 Standard and 2 Jumpers with Weaves and July 27-28 AAC Agility offering 2 Jumpers, 2 Gamblers, 2 Standard runs.
