CDC has had a very busy start to the summer!
Lambing ended in May with a grand total of 148 lambs! We also added Indian Runner Ducks to our Funny Farm and are loving them. I imagine they will be an addition to all of our herding seasons from now on.
The kids and I attended our first post lambing event in June and ran CKC agility at the Portuguese Water Dog Club of Alberta trials. It was a great weekend with both girls earning titles. Azra and Vucko earned their AgIV (Agility Intermediate Veteran) and JT (Jumps and Tunnels) titles. Shayla and Macey also earned their JT (Jumps and Tunnels) title.
We also kicked off the CDC Event circuit on the July long weekend by hosting our CKC Herding Trial here at the farm. We had a small entry but some really great runs and some CDC students earning new titles, important Qualifying runs and High in Trials as well as Reserve High in Trials. Congratulations to you all, I am so very proud of you. Vucko and I also had an amazing Advanced Duck run with the highest score of the weekend 94/100. The old guy still has it!
CKC also announced the rankings for 2022 Herding and we are so incredibly excited to say that Denny and I tied for #1 All Breed Herding Dog as well as #1 Border Collie in all of Canada for 2022! I am so thankful to Christine and Matt for letting me borrow their amazing dog to train and trial last summer. He is an absolute dream to work and earned his top spot! We also had some CDC Students in top spots. #4 & #5 All Breed as well as many top Breed placings. Even Vucko earned #8 Australian Cattle Dog in Canada after only participating in 3 runs to earn his Advanced title. What a year!
We have a few more Agility events planned here at CDC this summer so check out our calendar for dates.
Happy Training Everyone
